UPDATE MAY 31: Chloe will be wearing the “weansie” (weaning onesie) on and off to help her milk dry up faster. Her body needs to recover from chronic pregnancy, and we would like to begin stabilizing her kidneys and getting her healthy enough for her dental surgery as soon as possible, but we can’t do that until she stops nursing kittens.

UPDATE MAY 11: Aura got a checkup today. Amazingly, after 140 tube feedings her lungs are still clear and Dr. F was blown away by how good she looks. We still have a long road ahead, but she doesn’t seem to mind the tube feedings and is happy and extremely adorable otherwise. Chloe, Ramona and the other kittens all look great as well.

UPDATE MAY 2: Aura went to the vet today for a checkup because of her stuffy nose that has been forcing her to breathe through her mouth, and her lower lip is developing a sore. The good news is that her temp is normal, her lungs are clear (yay), her respiration rate is good and she remains a feisty little fighter. Prognosis remains guarded, but every day gets us a little closer.

UPDATE MAY 1: Chloe is being treated for mastitis, which is quite uncomfortable. It is helpful for kittens to nurse on her. Aura’s nose is stuffy, so she has been breathing through her mouth from time to time. It may look alarming, but it is the same as when we get a cold and can’t breathe through our noses.

PLEASE NOTE: This is live, uncensored rescue reality. We make ourselves vulnerable by broadcasting live, 24/7, because we believe it is essential to share the largely unseen reality of cat overpopulation with the world… even when it breaks our hearts. If you have concerns about what you are seeing, the solution is to become advocates for spaying, neutering, compassion and Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR).

While heartbreak is inevitable in the work that we do, we hope you will take great comfort and joy witnessing the transformations of the cats and kittens saved, who would otherwise have never gotten a chance to experience the love, comfort and pampered lives they deserve.

Thank you for watching!

CHLOE (4/22): Brie – tortie #1, Fontina – tortie #2, Colby – lighter ginger, Cheddar – darker ginger, Aura – tortie tuxie with cleft palate
RULA (4/19): Nakia – tortie
RAMONA (4/17): Huggins – Yellow Collar; Ribsy – Blue Collar; Beezus – Green collar

Over the bridge: Ramona’s Quimby and Little Prince, Rula’s Okoye and T’Challa

UPDATE APRIL 22: Chloe gave birth to five beautiful kittens this morning. Four are doing well so far, but Aura has a significant cleft palate with two large holes. We have a specialist advising us, and while the prognosis is guarded, we will continue to tube feed every 2-4 hours around the clock and do everything we can to get her big enough for surgery in 16-24 weeks.

Chloe Ramona are ferals raising their last litters of kittens in safety and comfort. They will be spayed and we will see if they are receptive to socialization. They come from a colony of more than 230 feral cats, where 90% have been spayed/neutered thanks to Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) efforts. Our volunteers provide daily care and feeding to the cats who remain at the colony, regardless of rain, snow or face-spider season. Meet their colony friends and family: http://TinyKittens.com/happyforest

UPDATE APRIL 3, 2018: A third pregnant feral named Rula has joined our feral caternity ward. She is also from the Happy Forest.

UPDATE APRIL 2, 2018: Gwen “accidentally” trapped a pregnant feral cat, so we are going to see how she does sharing a room with Chloe. Chloe (ginger + white) and Ramona (pure black) are from the same colony, so it is likely they know each other.

Chloe, Rula and Ramona will be part of our new project to map the DNA of her feral cat colony. http://tinykittens.com/dna

20 Most Luxurious Dog Houses

Everyone loves their dog, but some people take it to the extreme. Here are 20 of the world’s most luxurious dog houses.

Subscribe to Talltanic http://goo.gl/wgfvrr

#10 – The Standard Home
This dog house is anything but standard. It features multiple windows, 60 square feet of space inside, air conditioning and a front porch light with its own dog controlled switch. The porch is made to replicate the owner’s, complete with flower pots on either side of the porch. It cost the owners $7,200 to make their dog house feel like a home.

#9 – Home on the Ranch
This ranch style dog house is complete with its very own doggie swimming pool. The house has stone siding and bone decorations on the storm shutters, inside the same level of craftsmanship is used with the wooden floors, dog decals along the wallpaper, custom dog beds, and air conditioning. With the addition of the pool, this model will cost you $7,500.

#8 – Complete With a Hot Tub
After some searching, we found this cabin style dog house on the Weather King’s website. The company that makes these spectacular dog houses is called J.C. Metal Building Sales. They first started by creating storage sheds, barns and lofted cabins. The are stationed in Deland, Florida and now make some of the best dog houses you could create. Each house can be customized with energy saving materials, AC, and other amenities. This model simply says price upon request, but since there are a deck and a hot tub, we think this pad is probably too pricey for our budget.

#7 – A Georgetown Home
Another great find from the world renowned artists at Beyond the Crate is the Georgetown dog house. The home is modeled after the homes in Georgetown. The amenities in this house are running water, heat, air conditioning, and lights. This one is slightly cheaper than other models with its price tag starting at only $10,000.

#6 – The Victorian
This Victorian style dog house is spacious enough for three or four dogs to roam and have plenty of room. This dog house is a replica of the owner’s larger Victorian mansion. The owner commissioned the project after a large owl almost carried off one of her Pomeranians. The entire unit cost her a cool $20,000, but it is large enough for her to hangout as well.

#5 – The Brick Mansion
This brick mansion design dog house is also completely customizable. The minds at Beyond the Crate are the proud designers of this luxurious piece. It has amenities like running water, lights, heat, and air conditioning. Living in the lap of luxury does cost a pretty penny, this model’s price tag starts at $25,000.

#4 – California Hills Living
Beyond the Crate is the designer genius behind this extravagant home. It is called the Celebrity Hacienda Dog House and is modeled after some of the celebrity homes in the hills of California. This house is custom made with many different features to choose from such as running water, lights and air conditioning. The price reflects the different amenities you’ve had added, but this Californian mansion starts at $30,000.

#3 – The Taj Mahal
This fancy dog house was clearly modeled after the famous palace, the Taj Mahal. It sets you back $40,000 but giving man’s best friend the very best is the only thing on most pet owners’ minds, even if it costs a fortune.

#2 – Paris Hilton’s Dog House
Everyone knows this heiress gets exactly what she wants, including the most extravagant dog house for her many pups. The dogs reside in a two-story Italian style villa completed with roof tiles and wrought iron railings on the second-floor balcony. Inside you’ll find multiple dog beds, food and water stations, heat and air conditioning. Outside they have their own little fenced in yard complete with a tree to do their business. Money is certainly not something Paris worries about, which is probably why this dog mansion cost $325,000, she spared no expense.

#1 – Living in Luxury
Each and every one of these dog houses is luxurious and pricey beyond compare. This dog house, however, takes the cake as being the most expensive dog house in the world. It was commissioned by a surgeon in England back in the beginning of 2008. It is for her two Great Danes and costs just over $417,000. It includes everything you could image from sheepskin-lined, temperature-controlled beds, a 52-inch plasma screen tv, a $250,000 sound system to automatic dispensers, a saline treatment spa bath, and a retina scanner to keep out the common riff-raff.

Mommy Squirrel finds out her baby is safe Watch what happens next!

It was around 9 in the morning. I was enjoying a cup of tea on my terrace. Just out of sheer curiosity I peeked over my terrace onto the street only to find a tiny baby squirrel lying on the main door of my house. I quickly rushed down to pick it up as it could have easily become the surprise breakfast to a stray dog or a cat. I softly cupped it in my hands and brought it to the cosy ambiance of my home. I cleaned it dry with a soft cloth as it had fallen into the drain from its nest, which perched on the electric pole that stands in front of my house. I could only wonder how much this tiny creature must have struggled to come out of that filthy drain. Despite its feeble size, the baby appeared to be a true fighter. It looked extremely stressed and could not muster up enough energy to jump out of my hands. And after a few minutes, it quietly surrendered itself as somewhere deep inside it knew it was in safe hands.
I always wanted to have a squirrel as a pet, however, it is not easy to have one as they are extremely shy creatures. Being a photographer by profession, I am never away from my camera. And as luck would have it, I now had a wonderful opportunity of capturing some heart-warming pictures of this beautiful baby squirrel, whom I was happily visualising as my prospective squirrel friend.
I went to the medical store and bought a dropper so that I could feed the baby some milk. At such times, YouTube comes handy, as I quickly watched some videos on how to feed a baby squirrel and learnt some easy-peasy tricks. I fed it some milk through the dropper which it thoroughly relished. Meanwhile, I shared some of its pictures with my friends, introducing it as my newfound love of my life. They suggested some really quirky names for the baby from Gillu and Hogard to Munna Mushtaq and Brij Pal Gotiya. While some wanted to adopt it, a few wished if it could accompany them on a trip. In no matter of time, it had certainly become quite popular amongst my friends. J
To make it feel more at home, I created a tiny home out of a shoe box, in which I had laid out some cotton and had tenderly placed the baby on it. I made sure to check its condition every now and then while feeding it milk at regular intervals. I was glad that it was responding well and that it now felt comfortable and safe in my company. After a few hours, I noticed it had started playing inside the box while constantly chattering and gathering all its energy back. I took it out of the shoe box and it fearlessly started jumping on my arms and shoulders as if inspecting me and extending a hand of friendship towards me. We clicked some amazing selfies together and I must say it posed like a seasoned model. 😀
It had barely come down from my shoulders when I noticed a squirrel approaching towards me. I quickly understood that it was the mother of this cute little baby. I could clearly feel that she was afraid of me but that didn’t stop her from coming close to me. She looked at me intently and then softly touched my hand as if graciously thanking me for saving her baby’s life. I felt a lump in my throat and an indescribable feeling of love and respect for that tiny creature. She checked her baby and kissed her zillion times. It was truly an incredible sight! After showering oodles of love on her baby, the squirrel turned towards me and touched me again and then quietly picked her baby in her mouth and disappeared. Tears trickled down my cheeks experiencing such an amazing moment of unconditional love between a mother and a child. I am so pleased with myself that I could manage to capture this incredible moment in my camera, which would forever hold a special place in my heart. I feel blessed to have been able to save the life of that tiny creature who with its mother reminded me of some really important virtues of lives that we all know of but often forget to practice, sometimes unknowingly and sometimes, perhaps deliberately.

Here is the link to my photography pages, where you can check a few images that I had clicked of the mother and the baby:  https://www.facebook.com/ShutterbugKevin/photos/a.580973651987250.1073741837.105511642866789/1366120356805905/?type=3&theater
