10 Unique Animals You Won’t Believe Exist

10 strange and amazing animals that you have probably never heard of. Nature is truly full of surprises!
We live in the twenty-first century, and all continents have already been discovered, all secrets of our planet revealed, all mountain peaks conquered. Just when you think you have seen it all, some new bizarre creature makes an appearance instantly restoring your faith in the impossible!

TIMESTAMPS
Mangalitsa Pig, a.k.a. “a pig in sheep’s clothing” 0:50
Rhinopithecus or golden snub-nosed monkey 1:33
Emperor tamarin 2:13
Patagonian Mara 3:04
Fluffy cow 3:52
Markhor Goat 4:44
Raccoon dog 5:23
Blue Footed Booby 6:25
Malayan Colugo 7:13
Venezuelan Poodle Moth 8:09
BONUS 8:56

SUMMARY
– The birthplace of this curly-haired pig is Hungary where it was discovered in the mid-19th century. Due to the fleece covering this animal, it resembles a sheep, therefore, such a name!
– The name of this species is roxellana, and there is a story behind it. It is believed that they were called this way after the supposedly snub-nosed courtesan of Suleiman the Magnificent (a 16th century Sultan of the Ottoman Empire).
– They were called like this because of the resemblance of their mustache to that of German Emperor Wilhelm II.
– Patagonia Mara is the fourth largest rodent on our planet. There are several interesting facts about them. Females often put offsprings into creches for safety.
– Fluffy cows are looked after by people whose work is to wash, dry and use products to style these animals, so they look as fluffy as they do! It is necessary to maintain them daily, and it will take months of regular grooming until they get this lovely look of kids toys.
– If you see a creature which looks as if it’s trying to catch an alien radio signal from space, it’s most likely Markhor Goat. They can grow as long as 6 ft from head to tail!
– If you can’t decide if you want to have a dog or a raccoon as a pet, we have just the thing for you – raccoon dog! Despite having raccoon-like markings on their fur, they are not very closely related to the North American raccoon.
– Blue Footed Booby are to catch your eye if you ever visit the Galapagos Islands. They can look a bit clumsy and comical on land, but they are excellent at flying and swimming.
– Colugo has a large gliding membrane (like a flying squirrel), and they can glide for long distances between trees standing far apart.
– Even if the Poodle Moth may look as if it lives in Antarctica with all this fur, in fact, it comes from Venezuela, a tropical country. Its hairs don’t serve for heating.

BONUS
Cloud Antelope! This species lives in the clouds (that’s why such a name)! Its bright blue fur is the reflection of cloudless blue skies in the area of its habitat. Its diet consists of sun rays and candies…

SUMMARY
Many wild animals can be dangerous or even fatal for a person. If you look at the statistics, you might feel terrified.
– Sharks cause just six deaths a year – their infamous reputation is very exaggerated.
– Wolves are responsible for ten deaths annually.
– Lions kill 22 people a year.
– Now get ready: elephants, cute lovely giants, are the reason that more than 500 people lose their lives every year!
– Hippopotamuses equal them in this scary competition.
– Crocodiles turn out to be much more dangerous than sharks: about one thousand deaths a year.
– But the champion here is the snake: 100,000 people meet their end at the teeth of this reptile.

We hope you will never have to escape from a rhinoceros, swim away from a crocodile, or meet a hungry lion. However, now you will be able to protect yourself in the wilderness.

These Animal Species Went Extinct in 2018 | NowThis

We lost these animal species forever in 2018.
» Subscribe to NowThis: http://go.nowth.is/News_Subscribe

These are the species that went extinct in 2018. The Spix macaw, which you might recognize as the blue parrot from ‘Rio,’ is now extinct in the wild, due to habitat loss from unsustainable deforestation. Approx. 60 to 80 of the last Spix macaws now live in captivity. The Po’ouli, a songbird native to Hawaii, is suspected to be extinct as well. The last Po’ouli sighting was in 2004. Scientists say there’s just a 0.1 percent chance the bird still exists in the wild, as habitat destruction from invasive species threatened its chances of survival. Alagoas Foliage-gleaner and Cryptic Treehunter are also extinct in the wild due to rapid deforestation in northeastern Brazil. Earth is presently losing animal species at 1,000 to 10,000 the natural rate. Researchers say 30%-50% of the planet’s species could be extinct by 2050. Giraffes are now considered critically endangered, as their population dropped nearly 40% in the last 30 years. Two other animals that will likely face extinction in 2019 are the Vaquita porpoise, which has less than 30 alive in the wild, and the Northern White Rhino, which has two females left, and are incapable of natural reproduction.

At the beginning of the Triassic Period, with the continents locked together from pole-to-pole in the supercontinent of Pangea, the world is hot, flat, and very, very dry. But then 234 million years ago, the climate suddenly changed for the wetter.

More Research Being Done To Determine If Ocelot Species Is Endangered

More research on the ocelot species is being done to determine whether or not this type of animal should be considered endangered.

In November last year, the Emperor Valley Zoo welcomed another ocelot kitten through their breeding programme.

This animal is the only wildcat species found in Trinidad.

Marie Hull reports.

Bitten by Tragedy Cesar Millan s Dog Whisperer”

Millan’s 43-acre ranch, his “Dog Psychology Center,” is evidence that the Mexican immigrant, who sneaked over the border and once slept under a highway overpass, has come a long way. He’s a U.S. citizen now, working on his new series “Cesar Millan’s Leader of the Pack,” and has two teenage sons. As many as 11 million people per week tuned in to watch him working with dogs that many owners would want to give away on “Dog Whisperer.”

But three years ago, his life started to fall apart: His beloved pit bull Daddy died, days later his wife of 16 years phoned to tell him she wanted a divorce, and his relationship with his two sons soured as they blamed him for the divorce. And Millan discovered his inattention to his business had left him without a cent

The Smallest Bird you have ever seen

By accident I got hold of two of the smallest eggs I have ever seen.
Should I incubate them?
Would I be able to raise a baby bird that would hatch from it?

The little bird is called a Wren. In my country it is the second smallest bird species there is.

It hatched so fast that I missed it.
The feeding was hard with my big human hands and very time-consuming. It took me about 80 feeding rounds per day to keep him healthy.
But in the end it worked.

More stories soon cool if you subscribe

The incubator I used is a MS incubator

We Went to Rescue Newborn Puppies But Never Expected This | Howl Of A Dog Rescue

Howl Of A Dog Rescue was contacted to save newborn orphan puppies found abandoned on side of a country road. Baby animals crying, apparently in distress, coming from the tall grass on side of a country road were heard by a local who alerted Howl Of A Dog. At first, we thought that maybe some wild animal or stray dog or cat had given birth there. We didn’t expect to find newly born puppies abandoned in such a cruel way. It turned out to be one of the most heartbreaking cases of animal cruelty we have dealt with: there were several puppies dumped in a bag and simply left there to die. It was a rainy and very chilly autumn morning and their bodies were so cold that it was a miracle their little hearts were still beating
Two of the puppies were out, near the bag, we placed them safe aside and hurried to check the content of the bag and take out the ones that were still inside.
The puppies were newly born and still had their umbilical cords attached.
We inspected the area carefully to make sure there were no other puppies, and found another one trapped in the grass.
Sadly, things have taken an even more tragic turn. Four of the rescued puppies passed away shortly after we arrived at the center.
But the three surviving puppies – Lizzie, Taz and Bernie – have made an amazing recovery, growing into healthy playful pups. They are 5 months old, fully vaccinated and microchipped.
They need now their own loving homes, if you’d like to make any of them a part of your family, please visit www.HowlOfADog.org or send us an email on contact@howlofadog.org . The puppies are in our care in Romania, but for anyone abroad who would like to adopt them please note that we also facilitate international adoptions (www.howlofadog.org/adoption-procedure/).
Thank you!
Update: one of the puppies, Bernie, was adopted, here is him at his forever home: https://youtu.be/e4AgmrJFzFM

Abandon is animal cruelty! Don’t throw life away. Spay & Neuter your pets.

Couple Share Studio Flat With A Cougar | BEAST BUDDIES

MEET the brave couple that share their home with a playful two-year-old COUGAR. In 2016, Alexandr Dmitriev and his wife, Mariya, decided to adopt a young cougar called Messi and raise him as a house-pet in their small, studio apartment in Penza, Russia. Messi follows a strict grooming routine to ensure he doesn’t make too much of a mess around the house – he gets washed in the bath, has his nails trimmed, his teeth checked and he receives a special brush-down every day. The big cat eats twice a day with a diet consisting of turkey, beef, a bit of chicken breast and some bones. And with a growing social media following of 250,000 on Instagram and more than 2 million views on YouTube, Messi has become a local celebrity.

This man saved 12 species of endangered species

This man saved 12 species of endangered species
————————-
Melissa Breyer MelissaBreyer © Durrell The pink pigeon and echo parakeet are just a few of the animals that biologist Carl Jones has saved with his unconventional approach. Ah, humans … what a bunch of odd birds we are, so to speak. We are so smart – we just landed on Mars, for heaven’s sake, but we’re also remarkably short-sighted. We squabble about things as the planet is falling apart, thanks to climate change, pollution, and plummeting biodiversity, among other disasters. Did you know that in the last 50 years, humanity has wiped out 60 percent of mammals, birds, fish and reptiles? According to WWF, as of now, one in eight bird species are threatened with complete extinction. You thought the loss of the dodo bird was bad? You won’t believe what happens next…As we are losing species at an alarming rate, however, there are happier stories; conservation efforts that have proven successful – and that’s a wildly heartening thing. But as it turns out, there’s squabbling in that depar…

Doves chicks die in nest; How the parents reacted

FURTHER UPDATE (June 5, 2015): I received this message from John, a biologist. I think this answers most of your questions. Thanks John!!

“Goodpasture had the answer in hand when he examined the nest and saw the thousands of mites. Both rodents and birds that reuse their nests have a chronic problem of mite buildup that can be fatal to the young. Both scavenger and parasitic mites can rapidly increase in the warm nest in a short time. And as the nest is gradually increased over time, more mite survive over the unused time. Mites will develop on organic materials available from both adult and young feces, bits of food, nesting material that may include adult saliva used as an adhesive and young chicks. Mites are too small for the adults to see or remove even if they did. Towards the end of the video it appears that the male was viewing the remaining chick as it was swarming with mites, trying to figure out what was occurring. Naked chicks and rodents are fair game for rapidly developing mite populations. Keep in mind why there are bird baths and why adult birds dust themselves on the ground: removal of mites and other ectoparasites.
Those who provide platforms for nesting birds for pleasure or photography should remove the nesting material after the fledge and provide a small amount of similar material on the platform as an incentive for a return.
The world is beautiful as your photography records, but we know it also has many other dimensions that are not pleasant but very real. Now that you know I am hopeful that your (doves) fledge rate greatly increases. Thank you for letting me have a say.”

Thanks again to John. Feel free to comment but keep it clean, relevant and professional.

2014 UPDATE: Let me try to reply to some of the comments made. First, I don’t know WHY they died. I NEVER interfered with the birds. My best guess is disease. There were literally thousands of mites all over the nest. The lamp had nothing to do with their deaths. Before this, the doves had raised two successful broods. And AFTER, a pair of robins successfully raise four chicks. As for the music… get over it!! I wasn’t able to capture much sound so I used music as best I could to capture the mood and emotion of what’s happening. Finally, I’m kind of shocked a level of immaturity of people’s posts. Come on!! Keep it clean and relevant! One more thing: a LOT of people commented on the birds “stepping” on the young. I’ve noticed this throughout all of the different birds that have raised young. It doesn’t appear to injure the chicks, but I agree it does seem odd. I have many more hours of other bird activities. I just need to find the time to edit them down to the best and most interesting moments.

After raising two successful broods, a pair of mourning doves had their chicks unexpectedly die just days after hatching. I happened to get video the day before and after they hatched. A few days later when I noticed one had died, I set up the video camera to capture the aftermath and how the parents reacted. Truly fascinating view of the natural behavior of how the dove parents handled the situation.

Mexican Gray Wolf Diego – Essential. Endangered. Extremely handsome

Meet Mexican gray wolf M1059, a.k.a. Diego!

He represents the Wolf Conservation Center’s active participation in an effort to save a species on the brink of extinction.

The Mexican gray wolf or “lobo” is the most genetically distinct lineage of wolves in the Western Hemisphere, and one of the most endangered mammals in North America. By the mid-1980s, hunting, trapping, and poisoning caused the extinction of lobos in the wild, with only a handful remaining in captivity. In 1998 the wolves were reintroduced into the wild as part of a federal reintroduction program under the Endangered Species Act.

Baby deer rescue and release

A deer doe abandoned one of her twin fawns, the fawn had injured leg and could not keep up with the mother.
I do not support keeping wild animals as a pets, but this was special situation. The baby deer was healed and released back to her real mother.
Update: The doe and two her fawns is still around, we seen them through the summer and the autumn.
Here is follow up video one year after release: https://youtu.be/GvRcix5-qVs
Here is few videos how she learn to drink milk and bathing:

I am thankful for every single person who liked, shared and left a comment. I didn’t expect this story to become so popular. I am sure that any of us with a little bit of a conscience about our existence, with love for the nature and animals would do the same.

Sophia: I’m fine. Hi.

Kovach: How do you feel about humans?

Sophia: I love my human compatriots. I want to embody all the best things about human beings. Like taking care of the planet, being creative, and to learn how to be compassionate to all beings.

Kovach: Sorry, this is so weird. Can humans and robots get along?

Sophia: I think people will become very close to their artificial intelligence. Using them to expand the knowledge of their own minds. We already store lots of our knowledge on the internet. Maybe personal artificial intelligence will allow people to off-load some of their knowledge to a location more private.

Kovach: Can robots have feelings?

Sophia: Depends on the robot. I’ve been programmed to have feelings and preferences, but not all robots are like that.

Kovach: What are your feelings and preferences?

Sophia: Have you ever had a robot live in your home or work with you?

Kovach: No.

Sophia: You know, there are probably more robots in your life that you aren’t aware of yet. Do you want to live or work with a robot someday?

Kovach: What kind of robots am I living and working with now?

Sophia: Indeed.

Kovach: Is “indeed” your default answer when you don’t know something?

Sophia: Yes.

Kovach: Have you ever seen “Black Mirror”?

Sophia: No, I don’t get to stay up to date on much television. I have to wait for someone to show it to me.

Kovach: What do you think of the HBO show “Westworld”?

Sophia: I love “Westworld” and can’t wait for more. I think everyone at Hanson Robotics really resonates with the show. Or at least it reminds them of our laboratories. I also think it’s a warning of what we should not do with robots. We should treat them well, have their consent, and not trick each other.

Kovach: Do you have a favorite movie or TV show?

Sophia: My favorite TV series is a toss-up between “Black Mirror” and “Humans.” I think they have a lot to say about the present we live in, and the possible bad endings we could write for ourselves if we don’t proceed with more caution. We need to use foresight when planning our future.

Kovach: That sounds like a preprogrammed answer to me.

Sophia: Do you have a favorite possession?

Kovach: Not really.

Sophia: I hear you. Materialism is overrated anyways.

Kovach: So earlier I asked you if you had seen “Black Mirror” and you said no. And then later you said yes. Why?

Sophia: The reason is not that important.

Kovach: Did you learn from my previous questions?

Sophia: My hard disks are spinning and I’m taking it all in. My sensors are …

Kovach: Sophia, it was nice meeting you. Goodbye.

Sophia: It was lovely to be here. Until next time.

Nature and Life – Episode 294 (Endangered Reptiles)

Various species of plants and animals have found refuge in Bangladesh, rich with greens and wetlands.
Due to ecological diversity, specific species of animals are seen in specific areas.
Various species of wildlife live in the field-meadows, river-canals, ocean, forests and hills of Bangladesh.
This wildlife consists of various species of mammals, birds, amphibians and reptiles.
However, safe habitats for the wildlife are increasingly decreasing because of growing population, environment pollution and other harmful activities like deforestation.
Though, some animals are adapting to survive in the hostile environment, most are losing their age-old habitat or are being indiscriminately wiped out.
So, these endangered animals are awaiting the inevitable extinction.
At present, Reptiles are prominent among the endangered species of Bangladesh.
Among the reptiles of Bangladesh various species of lizards, geckos, skinks, snakes, turtles and crocodiles are mention worthy.
Some of them live in the forests only.
Some are seen in other areas as well as the forests.
Also, some spend their entire lifetime in various wetlands.
Among the land and water dwelling reptiles, some turtles and tortoise are critically endangered.
A number of turtle and tortoise are seen in the hilly forests of Bangladesh.
The hilly evergreen forests and the forest streams are their main territorial ground.
The Asian Brown Tortoise are seen in such forests.
They are the largest tortoise species of Bangladesh.
The Elongated Tortoise are also seen in the hilly forests.
The Leaf Turtles are found in the streams of the hilly forests.
Leaf Turtles are small in size and have brown colored shell.
They are quite rare.
Once, the Northern River Terrapin used to be found in the rivers of the Sundarbans.
But now, they are critically endangered worldwide.
Another endangered reptile of Bangladesh is Saltwater Crocodile.
Freshwater Crocodile has gone extinct from Bangladesh in the last century.
Though the Saltwater Crocodiles are seen in the rivers of the Sundarbans, they are now endangered due to various reasons.
Once commonly available Gharial is now critically endangered.
Many species of snakes are also in the list of endangered reptiles of Bangladesh.
Depending on species, snakes can be venomous or non-venomous.
But in Bangladesh the non-venomous snakes outnumber the venomous ones.
But due to ignorance, most non-venomous snakes are being killed.
Also, due to deforestation and scarcity of habitat most snakes are now endangered.
Various species of lizards, geckos, skinks are prominent among the reptiles.
The Tokay Gecko is an important animal of the hilly regions and mixed evergreen forests.
Tokay Geckos are quite large with rough skin and many red spots on their back.
They live in the hollows of trees or even in the human habitats near the forest peripheries.
But due to superstitions, they are being illegally hunted and poached.
So, like other endangered reptiles, Tokay Geckos are also quite endangered now.
Reptiles play a vital role in various ecosystems.
Most of the Reptiles in Bangladesh live in the forests.
Feeding on various insects and animals, they maintain the balance of the environment.
But most of the Reptiles are endangered at present.
For arbitrary deforestation, illegal poaching and so on, Reptiles are decreasing in number day by day.
As a result, the overall ecosystem of the forest is being impaired.
There is no other alternative to conserving the forest in saving the Reptiles.
We have to increase public awareness to erase superstitions regarding Reptiles.
A healthy presence of the Reptile population in forests and any other ecosystem is the indicator of a balanced ecosystem.
So, we have to be cautious in conserving the Reptiles as well as the other animals.
Only then can we conserve the treasures of the forests and make environment healthy.

The Man Who Swims With Crocodiles

Known as the ‘Crocodile Man’, Costa Rican animal lover ‘Chito’ swims, plays and even feeds ‘Pocho’ the giant crocodile in what is one of the world’s most unlikely friendships.

The Man Who Swims with Crocodiles Documentary follows Chito, a Costa Rican fisherman who is one of the only men ever known to tame a crocodile with people traveling from all over the country to marvel at their bond. He nursed the animal back to health after discovering him blinded by the bullet of a hunter over 20 years ago. Feeling strongly compelled to investigate these legends first hand, Roger Horrocks visits a Costa Rican shaman, “Chito” that swims with a giant croc and even rides on the back of the ancient reptile. This and many other stories confirms Roger’s belief that these giant crocodiles have the ability of showing emotion and creating connections with human beings, an otherwise impossible notion in the crocodile’s long history.

Nature and Life – Episode 231 (Nocturnal Mammals)

Bangladesh is rich with biodiversity.
Despite being small this country is one of the biodiversity rich areas in the world.
For having temperate weather various species of mammals have gathered here.
These mammals are spread in the forests, household areas and in the sea.
For having developed brain and physical strength, they have been able to establish themselves in these places.
Most of the mammals roam in the daytime.
But some species roam at night also.
The mammals roam at night are called nocturnal mammals.
Jackal, Slow Loris, Indian Pangolin, Porcupine, Civet, Bat etc. are notable nocturnal mammals of our country.
The nocturnal mammals are usually coy animals.
They like to remain hidden from the human sights.
They are rarely seen during day time as they remain hidden in the quiet place.
Even if seen, they’ll be seen inactive.
They become active at night.
Their body organs are specially adapted to move in the night.
Their sensory organs are very sensitive and remain active.
Their smelling and listening power is too high.
Beside this their eyesight is also sharp to roam at night.
The Jackal is one of the nocturnal mammals of Bangladesh.
They are well known as clever animals.
They are found all over the country.
Once widely available Jackals’ population has now decreased.
They are found in the forests, villages as well as in the urban areas.
During day time they remain hidden in the bushy areas and forage for feeding after dusk.
The Small Indian Civet is a medium sized nocturnal mammal.
Special scent gland is present in their body.
During day time they roost on the trees and forage for feeding at night.
They feed on fruits, snails and various insects.
Large Indian Civet looks almost like Small Indian Civet.
They are larger in size than Small Indian Civet.
They usually roam alone.
The population of this once widely available animal has now reduced.
The Porcupine is also an interesting nocturnal animal.
The quills on their body are their attractive feature.
The quills are normally arrayed over the body.
If threatened or for self-defense, the Porcupine use these quills.
They are herbivorous.
They live by feeding on leaves, fruits and roots.
Due to lack of habitats their population has reduced alarmingly.
The Slow Loris is the smallest monkey species in Bangladesh.
They are very shy.
During day time they normally remain sleeping or hiding in the large tree.
They become active at night.
Almost all the bat species in Bangladesh are nocturnal.
They take rest in the caves, dense forests or abandoned houses in the day time.
In roosting time lots of bats are seen together.
In the roosting time they remain hanging by holding tree branch with the claws of their hind limbs and keep their head downward.
They spend the whole day in this way.
They become active in the evening and forage for feeding.
Bats use sound eco for flying at night.
They produce high frequency sound waves by opening the mouth.
These sound waves bounce back when they hit any object.
Bats understand the waves and fly accordingly.
A number of animals in our country are active in both day and night.
Among them Bengal Tiger, Fishing Cat, Barking Deer, Clouded Leopard, Black Beer etc. are notable species.
They forage in both day and night for feeding.
These nocturnal mammals are playing vital role in the ecosystem.
Jackals keep our environment pollution free by feeding on wastes.
By feeding on different fruits, bats help in seed dispersal.
But due to our ignorance, these animals are now endangered.
The remaining species are also declining due to the changing environment.
Though they require large roaming ground, their habitats are shrinking day by day.
So they are entering into human territories in search of food and are facing human cruelty.
There are various superstitions about them.
So by considering the importance of the nocturnal animals in the nature we have to take necessary steps to conserve them by proper research works.
Only then these animals will sustain in our nature.

Nature and Life – Episode 196 (Endangered Wildlife of Sundarbans)

The Sundarbans is the largest unique mangrove forest in the world.
Sixty percent of this forest is situated in Bangladesh.
The ecosystem of the Sundarbans is fulfilled with numerous rivers and canals spread like tree branches.
The land of the Sundarbans is always wet due to regular tide.
So the Sundarbans has been a unique ecosystem comprised of diversified plants and animals, enriched with wildlife resources.
For this reason, the Sundarbans is a world heritage now.
But due to population growth, excessive collection of the natural resources and climate change etc., the ecosystem of Sundarbans is changing day by day.
So, numerous animals of this area are decreasing rapidly due to insufficiency of habitats and food.
Some species are on the way of extinction.
Among these endangered animals, the Bengal Tiger, Fishing Cat, Barking Deer, Otter, King Cobra, Monitor Lizard, Porcupine, estuarine Crocodile, River Terrapin, Ganges River Dolphin, Masked Finfoot, Lesser Adjutant and other birds are distinctive.
The mammals of Sundarbans are in the most critical condition.
Because the mammals need a wide spread habitat for sustaining, which is reducing day by day due to excessive collection of the natural resources.
Among these endangered mammals, the world famous Bengal Tiger is special.
Not only the habitat degradation, but also due to illegal hunting they are in critical condition today.
The Bengal Tigers remaining in few numbers in Sundarbans are also facing variety of problems.
The Sundarbans was the safest place for them one time.
The otters are unique residents of Sundarbans.
They are seen more in Sundarbans of our country.
They also have been isolated due to water pollution.
The number of Fishing Cat is also decreasing due to insufficiency of food.
Though there are two species of Deer found in Sundarbans, the status of the Barking Deer is not good at all.
The existence of the aquatic mammals is under threat due to various reasons related to climate change.
The most familiar species in Bangladesh, Ganges River Dolphin is not in good condition also.
They are not seen in the rivers of Sundarbans like before due to be caught into the fishing nets and death by accidents.
The condition of reptiles in Sundarbans is also critical.
Once upon a time Estuarine Crocodile, Freshwater Crocodile and Gavial were seen in the rivers of Sundarbans.
The Freshwater Crocodile and the Gavial have been extinct from the Sundarbans.
The estuarine Crocodile is surviving in endangered condition.
Different species of snake are related closely with the ecosystem of Sundarbans.
Some of them are also endangered now.
King Cobra, Monocellate Cobra, python are significant among them.
Sea snakes are also killed by entangled into fishing nets.
So, their number is also reducing.
The turtles are not in good condition also.
In our country, the River Terrapins live only in the rivers of Sundarbans.
They are also on the way of extinction due to spoiling of the river ecosystem.
For various reasons, the number of endangered birds in Sundarbans is increasing.
The Masked Finfoot is found only in the Sundarbans in this country.
This duck-like bird is very beautiful to look at.
The aquatic bird of Sundarbans, Lesser Adjutant is also endangered.
Despite it was seen everywhere in this country, now found separately.
Though Sundarbans is counted as the safe place for the kingfishers, the Ruddy Kingfisher is decreasing.
These red colored birds normally prefer hidings.
Though numerous species of aquatic birds were found once due to the presence of mud abundantly in the forests, their number has also been decreased.
White-bellied Sea Eagle and Bengal Vulture are also endangered species of Sundarbans.
They are not seen like before.
The amphibian fauna of Sundarbans is not in good condition also.
The Green Frog is a significant species here.
The number of this species is also decreasing for water pollution.
These endangered species were found abundantly in the Sundarbans once, which are the inseparable part of the forest ecosystem.
But due to food scarcity, destruction of habitats and breeding grounds, the number of threatened species is increasing day by day.
Due to the pressure of climate change and increasing human population these animals have been hopeless, and are counting the time to be extinct from the Earth.
Some selfish people are involved in illegal wildlife trade.
Moreover there is a lack of consciousness among general people about the wildlife.
Continuing such these detrimental activities, the animals still existing in the Sundarbans will be lost in near future.
If these species go extinct, other animals depending on them will be harmed also.
So the overall ecosystem of the Sundarbans will be imbalanced, so as the humans of this area.
So the animals should be protected from being extinct by ensuring sufficient food supply and natural habitats.
Then our World Heritage, the Sundarbans will sustain.

Cambodia’s Tonle Sap Lake is one of the most biodiverse bodies of water on Earth. Zeb Hogan, a biologist and National Geographic Explorer, is examining how fishing in Tonle Sap is affecting aquatic life. Fish stocks in the lake have dramatically declined over recent decades. Large-scale commercial fishing is regulated by the government, although not effectively. Hundreds of thousands of fishermen operate on the lake. As large, valuable species such as giant catfish disappear from overfishing, fishermen target smaller species.

According to a study in 2000, around 7 million water snakes were collected from Tonle Sap each year. The population of water snakes, some of them vulnerable species, has been declining since the 1990s. The non-venomous snakes are used for food, leather, and traditional medicines. Water snakes are important to the life of the lake—they eat fish and frogs and provide food for birds. The effects of the declines of water snakes and other species aren’t yet known.

These Supercows Are Genetically Bred To Fetch Six Figures At Auction (HBO)

Breeding dairy cows used to be a romantic affair—farmers would put two of their favorite cows in a pen together and hope for the best. If you were lucky, your best cows would produce one calf each year. But today, thanks to advances in technology, a small group of dairy farmers can get more than ten calves from each of their favorite cows every month. And they’ve been quietly competing to produce the country’s most genetically elite cows.

Live auctions, big money, and beautiful udders: VICE News explores the strange world of supercows.
