The poodle is a group of formal dog breeds, the Standard Poodle, Miniature Poodle and Toy Poodle. The origin of the breed is still discussed, with a prominent dispute over whether the poodle descends from Germany as a type of water dog, or from the French Barbet.

Ranked second most intelligent dog breed just behind the Border Collie, the poodle is skillful in many dog sports and activities, including agility, obedience, tracking to herding, circus performers or assistance dogs. Poodles have taken top honors in many conformation shows, including “Best in Show” at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in 1991 and 2002, and at the World Dog Show in 2007 and 2010.

Toy Poodles won “Best in Show” at Crufts in 1966 and 1982. Standard Poodles achieved the award in 1955, 1985, 2002, and 2014. The 2002 winner came from Norway and was the first overseas exhibit to win the Crufts best in show award.

From Wikipedia: The poodle is a group of formal dog breeds, the Standard Poodle, Miniature Poodle and Toy Poodle. The Federation Cynologique Internationale (FCI) recognizes four sizes of one breed: standard, medium, miniature, and toy. Poodles exist in many coat colors. The origins of the poodles are still discussed. Most of the literature like the FCI states that the poodle descends from the old French Barbet breed, others state that the breed might come from Germany as a type of water dog. The breed was standardized in France.

Ranked second most intelligent dog breed just behind the Border Collie,[2] the poodle is skillful in many dog sports and activities, including agility, obedience, tracking to herding, circus performers or assistance dogs. Poodles have taken top honors in many conformation shows, including “Best in Show” at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in 1991 and 2002, and at the World Dog Show in 2007 and 2010.

SUMMARY
– If you’re one of these people and you want your pooch to look after your home, you should probably consider a Rottweiler, Doberman Pinscher, or German Shepherd.
– If you have a big family full of kids or just welcomed a newborn into this world, it can seem challenging to pick the perfect dog breed. But this is the territory where a Labrador or Golden Retriever would be completely unbeatable!
– Consider getting a Pointer or a Setter since they’re pretty much built for running. If you want something a bit smaller, a Jack Russell Terrier can be a good choice as well.
– If you’re looking for a furry cuddle buddy who will always be happy to laze around on the sofa with you, a French Bulldog or a Maltese is your perfect fit.
– Some breeds deal with being home alone better than others: think about getting a Shar Pei or a Basset Hound.
– If you’re retired and have decided to welcome a dog into your home, a good option for you would be a Boston Terrier, a Pug, or a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.
– . If the dog is small, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it’ll be happy living in smaller space. Consider getting a Yorkshire Terrier or a Bulldog for a small apartment.
– Retrievers, Collies, and Spaniels are always happy to have company to play with, so they’ll likely make a great match with your other pets. Terriers or breeds typically used in dogfighting can sometimes be a bit complicated.
– Most Terriers can take the heat, and they come in lots of sizes. At the same time, St. Bernards, Samoyeds, and Boxers won’t feel good in hot weather.
– Breeds that prefer a colder climate normally have a thick double coat and more body fat. So, as you can probably guess, a good choice is a St. Bernard, Malamute, Husky, or Samoyed.
– German Shepherds aren’t a good breed for you due to their dry skin, which results in a lot of dander built-up. The same goes for long-haired breeds as well.
– Getting a dog for the first time ever is both exciting and nerve-racking. There are so many breeds to choose from, and they’re all so cute and adorable! If you’re new to the dog-owning world, then a Labrador, Border Collie, or Poodle will be perfect for you.

10 Largest Dogs Ever You Won’t Believe Exist

Some breeds of dogs have been around since ancient times. Most dogs are bred for a lot of different things, from protecting livestock, and protecting their owners, to being faithful and loyal companions.

But in order for a dog to be protective, it’s should be bred with the size it needs to be effective. Join us as we take a look at 10 of the largest dogs ever.

1. Hulk, the Pit Bull – The name ‘Hulk’ fits this pit bull dog perfectly because he is a giant 175lbs, and stands on his hind legs almost 5 feet tall. And while he might seem big and scary, his owners say that he is very gentle and is even trusted around their young son.

2. Freddy, the Great Dane – It’s probably no surprise to many that the Great Dane is one of the largest breeds of dog in the world, but Freddy takes the breed to a whole new level of big. He stands 7ft 6 inches on his hind legs, 2 feet taller than his owner, and weighs 200lbs!

3. Zorba, the English Mastiff – This English Mastiff was a legend when it comes to some of the world’s biggest dogs. You may know that when it comes to the combination of weight and height, nothing can beat this breed of canine. Many Mastiffs average up to 190 pounds, but it’s not unusual for these giants to weigh around 225 pounds at full maturity.

4. CH Samson, the Neapolitan Mastiff – This breed of Mastiff, called ‘Mastino Napolitano’ is actually an ancient dog breed, and that might explain the size of this rare dog. CH Samson was one of the largest and heaviest Mastiffs and weighed a whopping 225 pounds at just two and a half years old.

5. Zeus the Great Dane – Zeus, who lived in Otsego, Michigan, was named the world’s tallest dog by the Guinness World Records in 2012. He measured an incredible 44 inches from his feet to the middle of his shoulder blades.

6. Newfoundland – Unlike many larger breeds, the Newfoundland wasn’t bred to be a guard dog. Instead, it was bred to help fishermen. These big, muscular dogs are able to haul nets and lines from boats, pull carts and, most importantly, fetch anything that falls overboard into the water, including people.

7. The Irish Wolfhound – Like the Scottish deerhound, the Irish wolfhound, as its name implies, was bred to chase down wolves. Developed from war hounds into a dog that was used for hunting and guarding, the Irish wolfhound is ancient breed of canine, and may have been brought to Ireland as far back as 7000 B.C.

8. Leonberger – This large breed of dog began as a mix between a Newfoundland and a Saint Bernard. In the mid-1840s, Heinrich Essig of Leonberg, Germany, crossed a Newfoundland with a Saint Bernard for four generations, then added in a Pyrenean Mountain Dog to the mix.

9. Caucasian Shepherd – This big dog was bred to do one thing only, and that is to protect sheep from wolves, and any other predator that dares attack a shepherd’s flock. However, these dogs can and have been used to protect other livestock.

10. The Anatolian Shepherd – This canine was bred to be a shepherd’s companion and livestock guardian. The interesting thing about them is that they were bred for their size and color so that they matched the livestock that they were protecting.

Dogs 101 – MINIATURE PINSCHER – Top Dog Facts About the MINIATURE PINSCHER

Dogs 101 – MINIATURE PINSCHER – Top Dog Facts About the MINIATURE PINSCHER

The Miniature Pinscher, often just called the Min Pin, is a breed of small dogs originally from Germany. Unlike some other ‘miniature’ breeds, the Min Pin is not the miniaturized version of another breed, in this case the Doberman Pinscher, and is in fact an older breed. While it could be a breed even older, a cat-like red-colored dog resembling the modern Min Pin is clearly depicted in a painting from the 17th century. It is widely accepted that the breed came about by crossing the shorthaired German Pinscher with Italian Greyhounds and Dachshunds, and was used as an efficient barnyard ratter. In the 1800s, the emphasis was also to obtain the smallest dogs possible, resulting in small ugly Pinschers. The trend was reversed in the 1900s, and elegance and soundness became the prime breeding requirements, making it a very popular show dog in pre-World War I Germany, and even in Scandinavia. Its numbers declined after the war in its native land, but thankfully enough specimens had been exported to the US by then that the breed continued to enjoy reasonably high popularity.

Time for some Ruff Trivia:
– The Miniature Pinscher is known as Zwergpinscher in German. What does ‘Zwerg’ mean?
o A: Toy
o B: Dwarf
o C: Red
What do you think, give it your best guess in the comments below before we get to the answer! Hang on tight and we’ll get back to this Ruff Trivia Question toward the end of the video.

The height of the adult Miniature Pinscher is typically between 10 and 12.5 inches, and weight between 8 and 10 pounds. This is a well-balanced, sturdy and compact dog. The head is tapering and narrow, with a slightly prominent foreface, slightly oval eyes and ears that are set high. Ears stand erect if cropped or are bent forward if not cropped. The tail is also often docked. The coat is smooth, short, straight and lustrous, covering the body uniformly.Available colors include solid red, stag red, blue stag red, chocolate stag red, fawn stag red, as well as black, chocolate, blue, and fawn with tan points or rust points. Only some of these colors are permitted in the show variety.

Grooming:The coat requires minimal care, with a weekly brush and an occasional bath sufficient to keep the dog clean. Cleaning of ears, trimming of nails and brushing of teeth has to be regular.

Temperament:The Min Pin is said to combine the feistiness of the German Pinscher, the playfulness of the Italian Greyhound and the fearlessness of the Dachshund. The most energetic of toy dogs, it is curious, always active and loves to goof around with its family. It prefers being treated like a standard-sized dog, and boldly faces intruders with its insistent bark. It can get aggressive with other dogs and smaller pets. It is very friendly with people familiar to it, but because of its small size, its interactions with boisterous young children should be supervised.

Training:The breed’s high energy makes it excellent for agility trials. It also enjoys learning tricks, but requires a patient and firm hand because of its independent and stubborn nature. Its small size makes it great even for apartments. It needs a lot of activity to use up all of its energy, which includes multiple play sessions and at least one good walk.

Health:The life expectancy for the Miniature Pinscher is 12 to 14 years. It is a fairly healthy breed, but some concerns that are reported are patellar luxation, Legg-Calve-Parthes and mange. Genetic testing can help control even these issues.

Bringing together the best of many breeds, the Miniature Pinscher is a bold, active and fun-loving dog. Healthy, easy to care for and adaptable to most living quarters, it asks for an owner who can be patient with this perpetual motion machine.

Find out if the Miniature Pinscher would be a good addition to your home. Now you can visit Brooklyn’s Corner.com to take our quiz and find out which dog would be the best match for you.

Dogs 101 – BORZOI – Top Dog Facts About the BORZOI

Dogs 101 – BORZOI – Top Dog Facts About the BORZOI

The Borzoi, or the Russian wolfhound, is a large-sized hunting breed that has been known in Russia from at least the 13th century. Its ancestors are believed to have been brought from Central Asia, and were crossed with bear hounds and tall sheepdogs to develop a larger, more agile animal, with a coat that could survive the cold climate. These dogs are famous for being used by the nobility in large wolf-hunting expeditions, in which sometimes even a hundred Borzois took part together, trailing wolves and holding them down, awaiting the hunter. The first standard for the Borzoi was written in the mid-1600s, in a book of hunting. Apart from hunting, these dogs were also popular in the old sport of coursing of hare. By the 1800s, as many as seven different subtypes of the Borzoi were in existence in Russia. Many of these dogs reached foreign lands as gifts from the Russian royalty. This association with the royal family, however, proved fatal for the breed as many dogs were disposed off by their owners after the Russian Revolution in 1917. The few specimens remaining in kennels, along with the ones that were left with foreigners, were used to rebuild the breed’s numbers. The Borzoi has long been associated with glamor in the US, and remains more popular as a show dog than as a pet.

Time for some Ruff Trivia:
– Which of these is an approximate meaning of the word ‘Borzoi’ in Russian?
o A: Fast
o B: Large
o C: Dog
What do you think, give it your best guess in the comments below before we get to the answer! Hang on tight and we’ll get back to this Ruff Trivia Question toward the end of the video.

The largeness is a key characteristic of the Borzoi, with the breed standard prescribing only a minimum height for both the male (28 inches) and female (26 inches). The weight range for the male is 75 to 105 pounds, and for the female it is 60 to 85 pounds. It can be described as a ‘longhaired greyhound’, with a body structure suited to run very fast in open spaces. A slightly domed, long and narrow head is furnished with a deep and powerful jaw to hold a wolf down. The coat, which covers a very wide range in color and markings, is long, silky, either flat, wavy or rather curly. The frill is profuse on the neck.

Grooming:The Borzoi’s rich coat requires brushing with a pin brush or a comb two to three times a week, along with an occasional bath, to maintain its luster. Trimming of nails, brushing of teeth and cleaning of ears have to be regular.

Temperament:Despite being an excellent hunter of big game, the Borzoi is a calm and sensitive dog by nature. It gets along well with its own family, but can be reserved, and sometimes even timid, with strangers. It enjoys the company of children, but is not a very exuberant dog. It does not have a strong territorial streak, and is not suited as a watchdog. It gets along well with other dogs, but needs early socialization to be able to live peacefully with other pets.

Training:The Borzoi has a slightly stubborn and independent streak, which requires patience while training. With the right trainer, the dog can do very well at agility and obedience trials. A long walk, with access to a properly fenced yard, should help take care of the Borzoi’s exercise needs.

Health:Life expectancy for the Borzoi is 10 to 12 years. Like most deep-chested breeds, gastric torsion is the most common health concern. It is otherwise a very healthy breed, with many common canine problems almost non-existent. Some cardiac disorders and a mild form of retinal atrophy do occur occasionally. As with most hounds of similar physiology, soft bedding is essential for these dogs.

Regal in appearance and temperament, the Borzoi can be bold and swift when called upon to do so. Smart but slightly stubborn, this dog of sizeable proportions is best suited for suburban living.

Find out if the Borzoiwould be a good addition to your home. Now you can visit Brooklyn’s Corner.com to take our quiz and find out which dog would be the best match for you.

World’s Top 10 Smartest Dog Breeds

Smartest Dog Breeds

BORDER COLLIE
The Border Collie is a working and herding dog breed developed in the Anglo-Scottish border region for herding livestock, especially sheep. It was specifically bred for intelligence and obedience.
Ranked number one in Stanley Coren’s The Intelligence of Dogs and typically extremely energetic, acrobatic, smart and athletic, they frequently compete with great success in dog sports, in addition to their success in sheepdog trials and are often cited as the mostintelligent of all dogs.

Poodle

The poodle is a group of formal dog breeds, the Standard Poodle, Miniature Poodle and Toy Poodle, with many coat colors. Originally bred in Germany as a type of water dog, the breed was standardized in France.

Poodles are known as a highly intelligent, energetic, and sociable breed. They require both physical and intellectual activities. Of note is this breed’s keen sense for instinctive behavior.

German Shepherd

German Shepherds were bred specifically for their intelligence, a trait for which they are now famous. In the book The Intelligence of Dogs, author Stanley Coren ranked the breed third for intelligence, behind Border Collies and Poodles.

Golden Retriever

The Golden Retriever is a large-sized breed of dog bred as gun dogs to retrieve shot waterfowl such as ducks and upland gamebirds during hunting and shooting parties, and were named ‘retriever’ because of their ability to retrieve shot game undamaged.

Doberman Pinscher

The Doberman Pinscher or simply Doberman, is a medium-large breed of domestic dog originally developed around 1890 by Karl Friedrich Louis Dobermann, a tax collector from Germany.

Shetland Sheepdog

The Shetland Sheepdog, often known as the Sheltie, is a breed of herding dog. They are small to medium dogs, and come in a variety of colors, such as sable, tri-color, and blue merle. They are vocal, excitable, energetic dogs who are always willing to please and work hard. The general appearance of the Sheltie is that of a miniature Rough Collie. They are a small, double coated, working dog, agile and sturdy.

Labrador Retriever

Labradors are an intelligent breed with a good work ethic and generally good temperaments. Common working roles for Labradors include: hunting, tracking and detection, disabled-assistance, carting, and therapy work. Approximately 60–70% of all guide dogs in Canada are Labradors; other common breeds are Golden Retrievers and German Shepherd Dogs.

Papillon

The Papillon is a very intelligent and self-assured dog that has a very easy time learning new tricks. This dog can be sociable with children and strangers, but is generally reserved around new people. They can also be socialized to get along well with other pets, but care should be taken with rambunctious pets or cats with claws as they may injure it.

Rottweiler

The Rottweiler is a medium/large size breed of domestic dog. The dogs were known as “Rottweil butchers’ dogs” because they were used to herd livestock and pull carts laden with butchered meat and other products to market.

Australian Cattle Dog

The Australian Cattle Dog is a sturdy, muscular, compact dog that gives the impression of agility and strength. It has a broad skull that flattens to a definite stop between the eyes, with muscular cheeks and a medium-length, deep, powerful muzzle. The ears are pricked, small to medium in size and set wide apart, with a covering of hair on the inside. The eyes are oval and dark, with an alert, keen expression. The neck and shoulders are strong and muscular; the forelegs are straight and parallel; and the feet round and arched, with small, sturdy toes and nails.

Salute To Indian Army Dog Squad | Independence Day Special | The Ultimate Channel
Army Dogs have been an integral part of the Armed Forces since time immemorial but their silent service to the nation always go unnoticed. There is more to a military dog than to just detect explosives and alert about enemy insurgency.

The relation between a soldier and the dog is as old as the battlefield itself. Romans were the first to use trained dogs in close combats and the inherent desire of the dog to please its master makes the task of training the animal easier.

The breed remains one of the most popular worldwide, primarily for its temperament and relatively small size. As of 2013 it is the 17th most popular breed in the U.S.

Standard Schnauzer / Dog Breed

The Standard Schnauzer is a dog breed that originated in Germany in the 15th and 16th centuries. The literal translation is “snouter” from the German word for “snout” and means colloquially “moustache”, because of the dog’s distinctively bearded snout. Although the schnauzer is considered a terrier-type dog, they do not have the typical terrier temperament.
Generally classified as a working or utility dog, this versatile breed is a robust, squarely built, medium-sized dog with aristocratic bearing. It has been claimed that it was a popular subject of painters Sir Joshua Reynolds, Albrecht Durer and Rembrandt, but actual proof remains elusive.
Standard Schnauzers are either salt-and-pepper or black in color, and are known for exhibiting many of the “ideal” traits of any breed. These include high intelligence, agility, alertness, reliability, strength and endurance. This breed of dog has been very popular in Europe, specifically Germany, where it originated. The breed was first exhibited at a show in Hanover in 1879, and since then have taken top honors in many shows including the prestigious “Best in Show at Westminster Kennel Club” in the United States in 1997.

Giant Schnauzer / Dog Breed

The Giant Schnauzer is a working breed of dog developed in the 17th century in Germany. It is the largest of the three breeds of Schnauzer the other two breeds being the Standard Schnauzer and the Miniature Schnauzer. Numerous breeds were used in its development, including the black Great Dane, the Bouvier des Flandres, and the German Pinscher. Originally bred to assist on farms by driving livestock to market and guarding the farmer’s property, the breed eventually moved into the city, where it worked guarding breweries, butchers’ shops, stockyards and factories. It was unknown outside of Bavaria until it became popular as a military dog during World War I and World War II.
The Giant Schnauzer is reckoned to be the youngest Schnauzer breed developed in the farming regions of neighbouring Wurttemberg and Bavaria as far back as in the XV centuries. In order to control unruly cattle farmers required much more powerful and capable dog than mid-sized Schnauzer. This wish necessitated the invention of the Giant Schnauzer, which was performed by crossing the average-sized Schnauzer with local smooth-coated herding dogs. It’s also very likely that rough-coated sheepdogs as well as the Great Dane and the Rottweiler contributed to its development. It is also very likely that the breed is related to the shepherd of Flanders, the Bouvier des Flandres.

From Wikipedia: The Miniature Schnauzer is a breed of small dog of the Schnauzer type that originated in Germany in the mid-to-late 19th century. Miniature Schnauzers developed from crosses between the Standard Schnauzer and one or more smaller breeds such as the Poodle and Affenpinscher, as farmers bred a small dog that was an efficient ratting dog. They are described as “spunky”[1] but aloof dogs, with good guarding tendencies without some guard dogs’ predisposition to bite. Miniature Schnauzers are recognized in three colors internationally: solid black, black and silver, and a color known as ‘salt and pepper’. There is a controversial fourth color variant in Miniature Schnauzers, pure white, which is not recognized universally.

The breed remains one of the most popular worldwide, primarily for its temperament and relatively small size. As of 2013 it is the 17th most popular breed in the U.S.

Miniature Schnauzers have a very square-shaped build, measuring 13 to 14 inches (33 to 36 cm) tall and weighing 10 to 15 pounds (4.5 to 6.8 kg) for females and 11 to 18 pounds (5.0 to 8.2 kg) for males.[1] They have a double coat, with wiry exterior fur and a soft undercoat. In show trim, the coat is kept short on the body, but the fur on the ears, legs, belly, and face is retained.[10] Recognized coat colors are black, salt and pepper, black and silver, and pure white.[11]

Miniature Schnauzers are often described as non-moulting dogs, and while this is not entirely true, their shedding is minimal and generally unnoticeable. They are characterized by a rectangular head with bushy beard, mustache and eyebrows; teeth that meet in a “scissor bite”; oval and dark colored eyes; and v-shaped, natural forward-folding ears (when cropped, the ears point straight upward and come to a sharp point). Their tails are naturally thin and short, and may be docked (where permitted). They will also have very straight, rigid front legs, and feet that are short and round (so-called “cat feet”) with thick, black pads.[5][12]

Docking of tails and cropping of ears has become a controversial practice, especially for non-working dogs, and is now illegal or restricted in a number of countries worldwide.[13]

The earliest records surrounding the development of the Standard Schnauzer in Germany come from the late 19th century. They were originally bred to be medium-sized farm dogs in Germany, equally suited to rating, herding, and guarding property.[1] As time passed, farmers bred the Standard Schnauzer into a smaller, more compact size for rating by combining it with the Affenpinscher and Miniature Poodle.[1][3] The first recorded Miniature Schnauzer appeared in 1888, and the first exhibition was held in 1899.[3][4]

The AKC accepted registration of the new breed in 1926, two years after Miniature Schnauzers were introduced to the United States.[5][4] They were originally known as Wirehaired Pinschers.[6] International Kennel Club classifications vary; in the United Kingdom and Australia, they fall within the Utility Group, while in Canada they are in the Working Group. In the AKC the Miniature Schnauzer is classed with the Terriers.[4] It was recognized by the United Kennel Club in 1948 and also classed as a terrier.[7] The start of the modern Miniature Schnauzer is generally considered, to begin with Ch. Dorem Display, the first Miniature Schnauzer to win Best in Show at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.[8] He was born 5 April 1945 and lived to be nearly fourteen.[8] Almost every living Miniature Schnauzer in America can trace its lineage back to Dorem Display.[8]

Miniature Schnauzers were the 11th most popular breed in the U.S. in 2008, falling to 16th most popular in 2015.[9]

The Havanese, a breed of Bichon type, is the national dog of Cuba, developed from the now extinct Blanquito de la Habana (“little white dog of Havana”). The Blanquito descended from the also now extinct Bichon Tenerife. It is believed that the Blanquito was eventually cross-bred with other Bichon types, including the Poodle, to create what is now known as the Havanese. Sometimes referred to as “Havana Silk Dogs”, this was originally another name for the Blanquito de la Habana.

The Havanese is small in size and sturdy in structure with a tail carried over its back and ears that drop and fold. The coat is abundant, long, and silky and comes in all colors.[1] The Havanese has a spirited personality and a curious disposition, and is notable for its springy gait, a characteristic that distinguishes the breed from all others.[3] The Havanese is considered an ideal family pet and a true companion dog.[1] They are highly adaptable to almost any environment. Because of their strong social needs, Havanese will not thrive in an environment where they are isolated for several hours each day.

While a toy dog,[1] Havanese are sturdy and not overly delicate. Most are 10 to 16 pounds (4.5 to 7.3 kg) and 8.5 to 11.5 inches (22 to 29 cm), with the ideal being 9 to 10.5 inches (23 to 27 cm) at the withers. The body, measured from point of shoulder to point of buttocks, is slightly longer than the height at the withers, giving the dog the appearance of being slightly longer than tall. The length of the body results from the long ribcage, not the loins.

The Havanese is a toy dog.[1] It is smart and can be easily trained. It is best to train this dog at a young age, because some habits will stick as they become older. However, training these dogs while they are older is still possible. Like many toy breeds, the Havanese can be difficult to housebreak. However, Havanese can be trained to use a litter box, which can greatly reduce issues with housebreaking. This breed is very smart and can be house trained faster than most toy dogs. The Havanese get very attached and are very loyal to their owners, and often attach to one person which they will closely follow. As a result, the Havanese does not do well in a household where it will be left alone all day. Although the Havanese is an active and lively dog, they are small enough that many of their exercise needs can be met in a house or yard, and therefore they do not require as much vigorous exercise as other breeds may. However, exercise is still necessary for this breed to be happy and healthy.[1]

The Havanese is satisfied when their owner is satisfied. They are very friendly dogs, and do not typically bark at strangers, but some individuals are more shy than others. The Havanese has a great personality and temperament, and loves to play outside and be around people.[1] They are not a dog that can live exclusively outside and prefer being inside with their owner. They love to perform in front of others and have a great need for affection. This breed is not afraid to show affection[1] and loves getting attention. They manage well with people of all ages and can thrive in any size home.

The Pomsky is a mixed breed the result of crossing the Siberian Husky with a Pomeranian. She is a medium sized dog with a life span of 13 to 15 years. She is bred using artificial insemination as natural breeding would be dangerous due to the size difference between the parents. She is a fun and watchful dog who is great for families with older kids, couples or singles or seniors as long as she can be given the exercise she needs.

The Pomsky is a dog best suited for a household that does not have children or other pets unless she is going to be raised with them. Early socialization and training are important for her. If you love the look of the Husky but do not have the room or the energy for a purebred the Pomsky is a great though expensive substitute.

The Pomsky is a hugely popular designer dog right now and that is still growing. She is a recently bred designer dog and is not a cheap one either with puppy prices being the highest range for any mixed breed, partly because she is new and so harder to find still and partly because breeding uses artificial insemination, an expensive process. Being so new she is still being tweaked but for the most part breeders are aiming for her to look more like a husky but small. However as with all designer dogs that cannot be guaranteed and there can be variations even in the same litter with looks and temperament. Be careful if you are looking for a Pomsky as there are a lot of poor breeders jumping on this latest popular dog just trying to scam you out of your money.

From Wikipedia: The Border Collie is a working and herding dog breed developed in the Anglo-Scottish border region for herding livestock, especially sheep. It was specifically bred for intelligence and obedience.

Considered highly intelligent, extremely energetic, acrobatic and athletic, they frequently compete with great success in sheepdog trials and dog sports. They are often cited as the most intelligent of all domestic dogs.[1] Border Collies continue to be employed in their traditional work of herding livestock throughout the world.

In general, Border Collies are medium-sized dogs with a moderate amount of coat, which is most often thick and sheds often. They have a double coat which varies from smooth to rough, and is occasionally curled. Whilst black and white is most commonly seen colour pattern of the Border Collie, the breed appears in just about any colour and pattern known to occur in dogs. Some of these include black tricolour (black/tan/white), liver and white, and red tricolour (red/tan/white) have also been seen regularly, with other colours such as blue, lilac, red merle, blue merle, brindle, and Australian red (also known as ee red, blonde, recessive red, or gold) which is seen less frequently. Some Border Collies may also have single-colour coats.[2]

Eye colour varies from brown to blue, and occasionally eyes of differing colour occur; this is usually seen with merles. The ears of the Border Collie are also variable — some have fully erect ears, some fully dropped ears, and others semi-erect ears (similar to those of the rough Collie). Although working Border Collie handlers sometimes have superstitions about the appearance of their dogs (handlers may avoid mostly white dogs due to the unfounded idea that sheep will not respect a white or almost all white dog),[3] in general a dog’s appearance is considered by the American Border Collie Association to be irrelevant.[4] It is considered much more useful to identify a working Border Collie by its attitude and ability than by its looks.

Dogs bred for show are more homogeneous in appearance than working Border Collies, since to win in conformation showing they must conform closely to breed club standards that are specific on many points of the structure, coat, and color. Kennel clubs specify, for example, that the Border Collie must have a “keen and intelligent” expression, and that the preferred eye color is dark brown. In deference to the dog’s working origin, scars and broken teeth received in the line of duty are not to be counted against a Border Collie in the show ring. The males’ height from withers comes from 48 to 56 centimeters (19 to 22 in), females from 46 to 53 centimeters (18 to 21 in).

Border Collies require considerably more daily physical exercise and mental stimulation than many other breeds.[5] The Border Collie is an intelligent dog breed;[1][6] in fact, it is widely considered to be the most intelligent dog breed. Although the primary role of the Border Collie is to herd livestock, this breed is becoming increasingly popular as a companion animal.

In this role, due to their working heritage, Border Collies are very demanding, playful, and energetic. They thrive best in households that can provide them with plenty of play and exercise, either with humans or other dogs.[5] Due to their demanding personalities and the need for mental stimulation and exercise, many Border Collies develop problematic behaviors in households that are not able to provide for their needs.[7] They are infamous for chewing holes in walls, furniture such as chairs and table legs, destructive scraping and hole digging, due to boredom. Border Collies may exhibit a strong desire to herd, a trait they may show with small children, cats, and other dogs. The breed’s herding trait has been deliberately encouraged, as it was in the dogs from which the Border Collie was developed, by selective breeding for many generations.[5] However, being eminently trainable, they can live amicably with other pets if given proper socialization training.

Top 10 Amazing Facts About Standard Schnauzers – standard schnauzer puppies

Top 10 Amazing Facts about standard schnauzer – standard schnauzer puppies. http://bit.ly/WeirdNWonderfulVideos Please Like Share Comment and SUBSCRIBE

Standard Schnauzer (Animal Breed) standard schnauzers were originally bred to be ratters, guard dogs, and all-purpose dogs on German farms. Their versatility, medium size, protective nature, and love of family make them an excellent companion dog breed.

The schnauzer is conveniently-sized and sturdy, yet also elegant, graceful, and light on his feet. The schnauzer plays hard and thrives on vigorous athletic activities. A schnauzer needs regular clipping and trimming of their wiry coat

There are schnauzer rescue centres situated in most US cities

standard schnauzer puppies are a medium-size dog who inspired early breeders to develop two more breeds who look just like him — the Miniature Schnauzer and the Giant Schnauzer.

It’s no wonder breeders wanted to duplicate this dog in different sizes for different needs. Standard Schnauzers are not only highly intelligent and excellent family companions, they’re uniquely handsome, even aristocratic, in appearance.

Squarely built, the standard schnauzer dogs have stiff, wiry coats that shed little with minimal “doggy” odor. A hallmark of the breed is the face furnishings, which include arched eyebrows and a bristly mustache and beard. The high-set ears are carried erect when cropped but are otherwise V-shaped, carried forward with the inner edge of the ear close to the cheek.

Standard Schnauzers typically carry themselves with a great deal of self-importance. They are agile and athletic, and excel in performance sports such as agility, tracking and herding. Highly versatile, they’re good hunters and have been used as retrievers both on land and in the water. They’re also excellent herders of sheep and cattle, one of their original jobs as an all-around farm dog. In fact, many Standard Schnauzers have earned American Kennel Club (AKC) herding titles.

With their working dog heritage, they also make excellent watchdogs. Standard Schnauzers are territorial, quick to bark at any disturbance. They have a deep bark that sounds as though it should come from a much larger dog and are vigorous in carrying out their watchdog duties.

Their personality is sometimes mischievous, always clever, and inevitably dignified. They learn quickly and want to please, which makes them great therapy dogs. And when socialized with children, they make an excellent and affectionate companion for the younger members of the family.

The standard schnauzer’s highly developed senses, intelligence, trainability, courage, stamina, and resistance to adverse conditions have found many a place in a field that most would not expect — search and rescue. Many of the Standards have proven to be exceedingly good at this important work, and their smaller size enables them to search in areas that larger dogs can’t reach.

Standard Schnauzers do have strong personalities, and can be stubborn. They have an uncanny way of determining your weaknesses and will take advantage of you whenever possible. If you’re not careful, they’ll rule the household; this is a breed that requires consistent and firm guidance from owners.

With all of his innate skills and exceptional good looks, is it any wonder breeders felt one size was not enough? As the original model for both the Miniature and Giant Schnauzers, Standards are truly the foundation of a great legacy in dogs.

Cute Miniature Log Cabin – Dollhouse Tutorial

Hi guys! Today we’re making a cute, miniature log cabin doll house 🙂 This is kindda like my previous dollhouses ( Japanese Tea House & Beach House ) but with simpler construction, which makes is easier and quicker to make 🙂 It’s all made from round sticks and popsicle sticks ^^
I worked in 1:24 scale in this video, but you can make this to work for any scale / doll – just make it tall enough for the doll to enter the door, before you start the roof construction.
I focused on the outside of the house for this video, but you can just glue it to a base for the floor and decorate the inside however you like ^^

Good to know:
I mostly work in 1:12 scale, but you can make them in any size you want and add headpins to make them charms 🙂 I used a mix of the polymer clay brands Fimo and Cernit, but you can use any brand you like. The liquid clay I use is from the brand Fimo. My mold maker is from Siligum/Sili-put.

Thank you so much for watching, I hope you enjoyed this video ^^

Miniature Haunted House Tutorial // DIY Dolls/Dollhouse

Hey guys! Today’s halloween miniature tutorial is for a cute haunted dollhouse ;D I used wood and polymer clay, but if you don’t have wood you can definitely replace it with clay or cardstock 🙂
This is meant to be fairly simple and cute, rather than super creepy and realistic – but feel free to change the design to match your taste ^^

This is about the size of a dollhouse for a 1:12th scale dollhouse, but feel free to adjust the scale to match other doll scales like Barbie 🙂

Dollhouse for Dolls; Miniature Dollhouse Tutorial

Hi guys! Today we’re making this cute miniature Dollhouse ^^ It’s a dollhouse for dolls basically, and scale wise it’s 1:144. I made it all with simply materials like popsicle sticks, fabric and glue, so it’s not a hard project in that regard. You can also personalize it however you like; I went for a vintage feel 🙂 If you wanna se more projects in a scale like this, let me know 😀

Good to know:
I work in 1:12 scale, but you can make them in any size you want and add headpins to make them charms 🙂 I used a mix of the polymer clay brands Fimo and Cernit, but you can use any brand you like. The liquid clay I use is from the brand Fimo. My mold maker is from Siligum/Sili-put.

Cute DIY Tea Cup Fairy Garden – Miniature Craft Tutorial

Hi guys! Today we’re making this cute little teacup fairy garden ^^ I wanted to make a garden in miniature scale, but you can make it bigger to fit any cup you want to use for the base.
I used Grey Fimo soft polymer clay to sculpt the tiny house and tools, before adding details with acrylic paint and alcohol ink. You don’t really need the ink, I just like the colors.
Since it’s still the cold season, the choice of plants was limited, thefore I went with a few small cacti for this video, but you can use any plants you want 🙂

Thank you so much for watching, I hope you enjoyed this video ^^
